Approved investors

On an Approved investors only token, only wallets on your approved investor list can hold or receive the token. Every transfer is checked against the list, so a transfer to anyone else is refused. The app calls this list the whitelist.

You manage it from the wallet that launched the token. Open My tokens, select the token, then the Holders tab and Whitelist.

Open tokens don't have an approved investor list. Anyone can hold them.

Add investors

  1. On Holders › Whitelist, select Add investor.
  2. Choose how to add them:
    • One by one: type their Account ID or wallet address. If they have a VestaScan account, their name appears so you can check it's the right person.
    • From a CSV file: upload a file with one wallet address per row.
  3. Optionally set Locked until to a date. They can receive tokens straight away but can't send them before that date. Leave it empty for no lock-up.
  4. Select the Whitelist button (it reads, for example, Whitelist 3 investors) and confirm.

You can add several investors in one confirmation; the dialog tells you the most it takes at a time. They appear in the list once the change is recorded on the public record.

Set, change or clear a lock-up

A lock-up is a date before which an investor can receive tokens but not send them. It's how you handle vesting or a holding period.

  1. On Holders › Whitelist, open the actions for the investor.
  2. Choose Set lock-up (or Change lock-up if they already have one), pick the date under Locked until, and confirm.
  3. To remove it, choose Clear lock-up and confirm. They can send their tokens straight away.

Locked investors show the date next to their name.

Remove an investor

  1. Open the actions for the investor and choose Remove from whitelist.
  2. If they don't hold any tokens, select Remove and confirm.
  3. If they do hold tokens, choose what happens to them:
    • Remove and freeze: they keep their tokens, but can't send or receive any until you approve them again. The tokens stay in the supply and on the cap table.
    • Remove and recover: their tokens come back to your wallet first, then they're removed. This takes two confirmations, and is only possible if the token is Revocable and transfers aren't paused.

Approve and send in one step

When you send tokens to someone who isn't approved yet, you don't need to add them first.

  1. Start a send from your Wallet or from the token's Supply tab, and enter the recipient.
  2. If they aren't on the list, the app shows Whitelist this recipient and send. Tick it.
  3. Enter the amount and confirm. Approving them and sending the tokens go out together, so you only confirm once.

This is offered when you send from the Vesta wallet that launched the token. Investors approved this way have no lock-up; set one afterwards if you need it. From any other wallet, the app shows Recipient not whitelisted and a button to add them first.
