Launch your first token

This walkthrough takes you from a signed-in account to a live token with its own public page. It takes a few minutes, and your answers are saved as a draft as you go, so you can stop and come back.

Before you start, sign in. Launching a token uses one of the deploys your plan allows; see Plans and free trials.

Two ways to do it

At the top of the deploy page you can switch between two modes. Both fill in the same form and the same draft, so you can move between them at any time.

  • Manual walks you through the settings one step at a time.
  • Guided lets the assistant ask you about your project in plain words and fill in the form for you as you answer. You still check everything before anything is deployed.

The steps

  1. Step 1: Open the deploy page

In the app, select Deploy token in the menu, or go straight to Deploy a token. If you have a draft in progress, it's listed under Continue where you left off; select Resume to pick it up.

  2. Step 2: Choose who can hold the token

The first question is Who can hold this token?

    • Approved investors only: only investors you approve can hold it. For equity, funds, real-world assets or debt.
    • Open to anyone: anyone can hold and send it. For a utility, community or payment token. Not an investment offering.

This choice is permanent. If you're unsure, select Help me decide: the assistant asks what you're creating and recommends one. You can still pick a card yourself at any point. Choose a token type explains the difference in detail.

  3. Step 3: Choose the deploying wallet (only if you have more than one)

If your account has more than one wallet, you choose which one launches the token. That wallet becomes the token's owner and is the one you'll use to manage it. If you only have one wallet, this step is skipped.

  4. Step 4: Name your token

Enter a Token name and a short Token symbol, the abbreviation people see in wallets. Availability is checked as you type: names and symbols must be unique on VestaScan. On an open token you also choose Decimals, which sets how finely the token can be divided; the default suits most tokens.

The name and symbol can't be changed after launch.

  5. Step 5: Set the supply

Enter the Initial supply: the number of tokens created now, in the deploying wallet. Then decide whether the token is Mintable, meaning you can issue more later. If it is, set a Maximum supply. On an open token you can enter 0 for no maximum.

Whether more can be issued, and the maximum, can't be changed after launch.

  6. Step 6: Choose admin controls

Turn on the powers you want to keep: Revocable (take tokens back from a holder) and Burnable, plus Pausable on an open token. Each one is permanent and is shown on the token's public page.

On an approved-investors token, the approved investor list, lock-ups and the pause switch are always included and aren't settings. See Every setting explained.

  7. Step 7: Review and deploy

Check every setting in plain words. Then:

    • Pick the Network. This is the public blockchain your token lives on and can't be changed later.
    • Optionally open Listing details (optional) to add a category and description, and Price (optional) to add a price per token and a minimum and maximum per investor. You can also add these later in the token's settings.
    • Look at the network fee line. It shows Sponsored when VestaScan covers the fee from your Vesta wallet's allowance, or Paid by you when it comes from your wallet. See Network fees.

Select Deploy token and confirm. When it's done you'll see Token deployed; select Manage token to open it.

Using guided mode

Choose Guided at the top of the deploy page, or select Help me decide on the first question.

  1. The assistant opens beside the page (full screen on a phone) and asks what you're creating. You can tap a suggested starting point, such as I want to tokenize a property or I'm setting up a fund, or type your own answer.
  2. It asks about each setting in turn, in the same order as the manual steps, and fills in the Token summary as you go. Settings with a sensible default can be kept as they are.
  3. The summary shows how many choices are left. You can undo any change the assistant made, or switch to Manual to edit a field directly.
  4. When everything is settled, the summary shows whether the network fee is covered and lets you deploy. Nothing is deployed until you confirm.
  5. After launch, Your token is live appears with Open token. The assistant can carry on and help with a category, a description and a price.

After launch

Your token now has a management page under My tokens and a public token page. The overview shows a short setup checklist: add a logo and cover image, write a description, classify the token, set up investor contact and upload a first document. Each item takes you to the right place.
